Betty Reece Clapp


    WHITSETT — Mrs. Betty Reece Clapp, 75, of 1585 N.C. 61, Whitsett, died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 2:35 a.m. following one month of declining illness.
    A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of Bruce Clapp, who survives, and the daughter of Charlie Cecil Reece and Nellie Baker Reece, both deceased. She retired as Secretary/ Treasurer of Clapp Fertilizer and Trucking Company. She worked 30 years for the Clapp Family Association. She was a member of Brick Reformed Church.
    In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include two sons, Bruce Elvin Clapp and wife, Kay, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Wendell Glenn Clapp of Whitsett; a grandson, Brian Clapp of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Faye Bolton and husband, Dennis, of New Bedford, Mass.; and a brother, Wayne C. Reece and wife, June, of Whitsett.
    A memorial service will be conducted at Brick Reformed Church on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Kristin Vaughn and the Rev. Bobby Bonds.
    The family will receive friends at the Brick Reformed Church Fellowship Hall following the service on Sunday, and at other times they will be at the residence.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brick Reformed Church Memorial Association, P.O. Box 27, Whitsett, N.C. 27377.
