WHITSETT — Mrs. Ruth Wagoner Clapp, 80, of 6569 Foster
Road, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at Moses H. Cone
Memorial Hospital in Greensboro after an illness of six moths.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Gordon W.
Clapp, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. James F. Wagoner
and Mrs. Maude Foster Wagoner, both deceased. She was a
beautician and a member of Brick Reformed United Church of
Christ.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter,
Mrs. Claude D. (Linda) Greeson of Burlington; a son, Mr. Samuel
G. Clapp of Whitsett; a sister, Mrs. Peggy Harrison of Greensboro;
four brothers, Mr. Walter E. “Walt” Wagoner of Elon College, Mr.
J.A. “Bob” Wagoner of Whitsett, Mr. Leroy E. “Pete” Wagoner Sr.
of Snow Camp and Mr. John T. Wagoner of Burlington; four
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ms. Annie Clapp and Ms.
Ethel Barber; and four brothers, Mr. Luther Wagoner, Mr. Les
Wagoner, Mr. Hodge Wagoner and Mr. Vasteen Wagoner.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Brick Reformed
United Church of Christ by the Rev. Robert C. Boyd, pastor. Burial
will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the church from 6 to 8 this evening, and at
other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the Endowment
Fund for the Memorial Association, Brick Reformed United Church
of Christ, c / o Ms. Ruth Noah, 1770 Shoe Road, Burlington, N.C.
