Mr. Leroy E. “Pete” Wagoner Sr.
SNOW CAMP — Mr. Leroy E. “Pete” Wagoner Sr., 82, of 4611 Spanish Oak Hill Road, died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at his residence after six months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. La Rue H. Wagoner, who survives, and the son of the late James Franklin Vasteen Wagoner and Maude Foster Wagoner. He was a farmer and a brickmason. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and the Baraca Sunday school class. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Janice Shoffner and husband, Bobby, of Snow Camp; two sons, Mr. L.E. Wagoner Jr. and wife, Rachel, and Mr. Gary Wagoner and wife, Angie, all of Snow Camp; a sister, Mrs. Kathleen “Peggy” Harrison of Greensboro; three brothers, Mr. Walter E. Wagoner of Wallace, Mr. James A. “Bob” Wagoner of Whitsett, and Mr. John T. Wagoner of Burlington; and seven grandchildren, Todd Wagoner and wife, Yumi, Mark Wagoner, Jamie Smith and husband, Dale, Lori Shoffner, Wendy Shoffner, Chelsea Wagoner, and Aaron Wagoner.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Barber, Annie Clapp, and Ruth Clapp; and four brothers, Hodge Wagoner, Les Wagoner, Vasteen Wagoner, and Luther Wagoner.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church by Dr. Charles Adams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Mt.
