ELON — Mr. G. W. “Johnny” Wagoner Jr., 76, of Elon passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at the Hospice Home in Burlington.
A native of Alamance County, Johnny was the fiancé of Ms. June Swain (caregiver), who survives and the son of Garland Woodrow Wagoner Sr. and Mildred Harrod Wagoner, both deceased.
In addition to his fiancée, Ms. June Swain of the home, Johnny is survived by two children, daughter, Jacqueline W. Johnson of Burlington and son, Mr. Steven Wagoner of Boston, Mass. Johnny is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lora Womack and husband Graham of Gibsonville and Mrs. Martha Beckom and her husband John of Burlington; an aunt, Lorene Harrod of Burlington; several nieces and nephews; and special family: June’s daughter, Tonya Walker Smith and husband Carl “Bo,” and their son Preston.
Johnny was the former owner/operator of multiple businesses in the area, GW Wagoner Jr. Builders and Coldwell Banker/Alamance Realty. He served as past President of Home Builders of Alamance. He was also an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing. He served four years in the
U. S. Coast Guard. Johnny thoroughly enjoyed the many relationships he built over the years while still working, and cherished them even into his later years of life.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington, N.C.
Burial will follow the service at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington. At other times the family will be at the residence, 106 Longbrook Drive in Elon, North Carolina.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude for the many acts of kindness shown to them during their time of loss.
