Obituary Online notes for “Gene” David Eugene FRENCH
Mr. David Eugene “Gene” French, 72, of Sophia, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Randolph Hospital.
Born January 21, 1944, in Randolph County, David was the son of the late Claude W. and Edna Whitesell French. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Kidd. He was an active member of Friendly Baptist Church in High Point where helped in the Food Closet Ministry in the church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was retired from AGI in High Point.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie Z. French, of the home; five children, Sharon Jones and husband, Gregory, of Tuscon, AZ, Wayne French and wife, Totie, of Ararat, Amanda Walker and husband, Terry, of Trinity, Holly Hendrix and husband, Shane, of Sophia, and Tammy Brandon and husband, Chris, of Spartanburg, SC; and 12 grandchildren, Christopher Jones, Logan Jones, Rachel French, Braxton French, Aksel French, Miquella Williams, Madison Williams, Trey Thompson, Kathryn Hendrix, Cody Brandon, Christine Brandon, and Timothy Brandon.
Funeral will be 12 pm Friday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, officiated by Rev. Tony Sluss. Interment will follow in Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Friendly Baptist Church or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
