BURLINGTON — Sherman McKinley Whitesell, 79, of 4314-C Williams Mill Road, Burlington, died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at The Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, Mr. Whitesell was the husband of Patricia Butler Whitesell, who survives, and the son of the late Marshall Whitesell and the late Geneva Murray Whitesell.
Mr. Whitesell was a former employee of Cone Mills and retired from Elastex Inc.
He attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, of the home, he is survived by his son, Mitchell Dean Whitesell; his grandson, Justin Todd Whitesell and his sister, Doris Johnson, all of Elon.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie; his son, Mark; two sisters and one brother.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 4 p.m. in the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. Delton Agnor.
The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington Saturday evening from 6 until 8.
