Jewel W. Baldwin, 89, of 204 Clapp Farms Road, Greensboro died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 7:38 a.m. at her residence.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late George Early Baldwin, Jr. and the daughter of the late Eddie Hildrey Rankin Whitesell and the late Callie Alventine Elizabeth Michael Whitesell.
She was a retired employee of P. Lorillard Tobacco Company, a member of Calvary Baptist Church of McLeansville, and a member of the Modern Woodmen of the World.
She is survived by her two sons, Boyd Lee Summers and his companion Lynda Orvis of Burlington and Jerry Lance Summers and his wife Glenda of Gibsonville; one brother, Otis Whitesell of Burlington; three grandchildren, Amber Summers, Jesse Summers, and Jacob Summers; and two step-grandchildren, Thomas Blevins and his wife Niki and Keven Blevins.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. by Rev. Terry Larson
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington one hour prior to the funeral service..
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Center of Wesley Long Hospital, 501 North Elam Drive, Greensboro, NC 27403
The family wishes to extend their many thanks to all Hospices that provided assistance to Mrs. Baldwin and to her very special Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist Church. [2168]

GIBSONVILLE — Mr. Willie B. “Bill” Summers, 86, of 6726 N.C.61 North, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at Wesley Long Memorial Hospital after one and a half years of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Thelma Ward Summers, who survives, and the son of the late Joseph H. Summers and the late Lydia Shephard Summers.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Friedens Lutheran Church.
Survivors other than his wife of the home, include two sons, Mr. Boyd Lee Summers of Burlington and Mr. Jerry Lance Summers of Gibsonville; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Huffines of Burlington and Mrs. Mae Lewis of Gibsonville; two brothers, Mr. George R. Summers and Mr. Jack Summers, both of Gibsonville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Brenda Murphy of Burlington; a stepson, Mr. Dana Strader of Graham; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Friedens Lutheran Church cemetery by the Revs. Kristina Johnson and Jack Lemons.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Friedens Lutheran Church.

GREENSBORO — Mr. George E. Baldwin Jr., 85, died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Beacon Place, after a year of critical illness.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Larson officiating.
Mr. Baldwin was born in Guilford County, June 29, 1920 to George E. and Eva Baldwin .
He served in the 25th Field Artillery in the U.S. Army, during World War II and was a Prisoner of War.
He was a member and an officer of The Woodmen of the World and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Baldwin is survived by his wife, Jewel Whitesell Summers Baldwin of the home; stepsons Boyd Summers of Burlington and Jerry Summers and wife Glenda of Gibsonville; stepgrandchildren, Amber Summers, Jesse Summers and Jake Summers; a cousin, Willie Johnson and special friend, Lisa Miller.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, prior to the service.
