Mr. Willie B. “Bill” Summers

GIBSONVILLE — Mr. Willie B. “Bill” Summers, 86, of 6726 N.C.61 North, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at Wesley Long Memorial Hospital after one and a half years of declining health.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Thelma Ward Summers, who survives, and the son of the late Joseph H. Summers and the late Lydia Shephard Summers.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Friedens Lutheran Church.

Survivors other than his wife of the home, include two sons, Mr. Boyd Lee Summers of Burlington and Mr. Jerry Lance Summers of Gibsonville; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Huffines of Burlington and Mrs. Mae Lewis of Gibsonville; two brothers, Mr. George R. Summers and Mr. Jack Summers, both of Gibsonville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Brenda Murphy of Burlington; a stepson, Mr. Dana Strader of Graham; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Friedens Lutheran Church cemetery by the Revs. Kristina Johnson and Jack Lemons.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Friedens Lutheran Church.
