Mrs. Margaret Howerton Whitesell
Mrs. Margaret Howerton Whitesell, 87, went home to live with her Savior on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the home of her granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Street Chapel. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
Margaret was born January 24, 1921, to the late LB and Myrtle Howerton in Greensboro, NC. She graduated from Greensboro High School and attended Apple’s Chapel Christian Church. After more than 25 years of service, she retried from Western Electric and was a member of the Pioneers.
Mrs. Whitesell was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Whitesell, two sons, James Neil Whitesell and Nelson Ray Whitesell; sister, and brother-in-law, Loraine Beaver and C.F. Beaver and brother and sister-in-law, Lee Howerton and Martha Howerton. She is survived by her son Norman Whitesell and wife Rhonda, daughter-in-law, Judy DeHart; grandchildren, Virginia “Ginna” Whitesell Ruckh and husband John, Joseph Whitesell, Scott Whitesell, Erin Early and husband Trey, Mark Whitesell and great grandchildren, Katie Sonafrank, Eric Sonafrank, Alex Ruckh, Dylan Whitesell, Bridget Whitesell, D.J. Whitesell and Russell Early.
Margaret brightened every life she touched in her family, her friends and everyone who knew her. We were blessed to know her and privileged to share her wisdom, her laughter, and most of all her love and her family will truly miss her. She often reminded us that we have a promise of seeing her again and we cling to that hope.
Her family would like to sincerely thank her physician M. Scott Vogler, MD and Mountain Valley Hospice for their continued care and understanding
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
