Henry Glen Wilkins

    BURLINGTON — Henry Glen Wilkins, age 91, of 2151 Wilkins Road, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009 at his home.

    A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Dorothy Simmons Wilkins and son of the late Henry Byrd and Anna Jane Garrison Wilkins. Mr. Wilkins was a prominent dairy farmer who produced milk exclusively for Sealtest Dairy. He was a member of Concord Christian Church where he was a former Deacon, Treasurer and member of the Men‘s Fellowship. He was a charter member of the Union Ridge Saddle Club, a member of the Blue Ridge Red Poll Cattle Association, Ayrshire Breeders Association and the Appaloosa Horse Association.

    Survivors include his son, Jefferson Davis Wilkins II; daughter, Glenda W. Whitesell and husband Terry; grandchildren, Meg Strader and husband Challey, Jeff Wilkins III, Anna Wilkins, Adam Whitesell and Addison Whitesell; greatgrandchild, Margaret Louise Strader.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Edd Davis Wilkins and sister, Francis Lillian Wilkins Wilson Crisp.

    Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 3, at the Bethlehem Christian Church cemetery by the Rev. Dave Gilbert.

He will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the graveside for services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday.
