Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Simmons Wilkins BURLINGTON — Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Simmons Wilkins , age 84, of 2151 Wilkins Road, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Edgewood Place.
A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late William Roach and Minnie Ethel Miles Simmons, and the wife of Glen Wilkins , who survives.
She was a member of Concord Christian Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Glen Wilkins of the home; son, Jefferson D. Wilkins II and wife, Laura Lea; daughter, Glenda Whitesell and husband, Terry; five grandchildren, Meg Strader and husband, Challey, Jeff Wilkins III, Anna Wilkins , Adam Whitesell and Addison Whitesell; brothers, W.R. Simmons Jr. and wife, Mamie Sue, and Robert Elmond Simmons and wife, Sarah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Naomi Jane Tate.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dave Gilbert.
Interment will follow in Bethlehem Christian Church cemetery.
Mrs. Wilkins will remain at Lowe Funeral Home through the funeral service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home of Jeff and Laura Lea Wilkins , 2100 Wilkins Road, Burlington.
