Ray W. Lewis
MEBANE — Mr. Ray W. Lewis , 74, of 3164 Barnett Road, Mebane, died at his residence on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 2:21 p.m. following several years of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Kay S. Lewis , who survives, and the son of Clyde R. Lewis and Neva Madden Lewis , both deceased. He retired from farming and the textile industry. He was a member of Long’s Chapel Christian Church.
In addition to the wife of the home, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Rita L. Hopkins and husband, Bobby, of Burlington and Mrs. Lisa L. Simmons and husband, David, of Elon; four grandchildren, Jared Hopkins, Kaylan Hopkins, Kendall Simmons, and Griffin Simmons; one sister, Mrs. Liz L. Dixon of Mebane; one brother, Mr. Allen Lewis and wife, Sonaha, of Mebane; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at Long’s Chapel Christian Church on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. James Baughn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Long’s Chapel Christian Church on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service, and at other times they will be at the residence.
