Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Friday, March 13, 2009 at Apple's Chapel Christian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

MCLEANSVILLE-Mrs. Mattie Chrismon Whitesell, 89, formerly of McLeansville, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center, Burlington.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 13, 2009 at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church.  Interment will follow in Apple’s Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.
 
Mrs. Whitesell was born on March 28, 1919 in Guilford County a daughter of the late George King and Brona Chrismon Johnson.  She was a life long resident of Guilford County, a member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church and a homemaker.
 
An important part of Mattie’s life were her grandparents, Thomas Jefferson and Fannie Belle Chrismon.
 
Survivors include six children Margaret Clapp of Gibsonville, John Whitesell of Pleasant Garden, Dwight Whitesell of Reidsville, Gary Whitesell of McLeansville, Deborah Gariglio of Gibsonville and Michael L. Whitesell of Greensboro; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two half sisters and four half brothers.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Vance “Happy” Whitesell in 1978, a son Billy Vance Whitesell and a daughter Louise Fogleman.
 
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church and other times at the home of Margaret Clapp, 6109 Frieden Church Rd., Gibsonville.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to Apple’s Chapel Christian Church, 7345 NC HWY 61, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
