William Gladstone Isley, 73, a prominent farmer of the Friendship community on Rt. 6, Burlington, died this morning at 5:03 o'clock in a Chapel Hill hospital following one year of declining health and two days of critical illness.
A native of Alamance County, Mr. Isley was the son of the late Dr. William L. Isley and Lula Huffines Isley. He was the husband of Mrs. Bess Nicholson Isley of the home, who survives, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, William Isley and George Isley, both of the home, and David Isley of Rt. 6, Burlington; two brothers, Bynum Isley of St. Petersburg, Fla., and J. H. Isley of Fayetteville; and four grandchildren.
Final rites will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dennis L. Setzer Jr., pastor, will conduct the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will begin Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and the family will be at the funeral home Saturday night from 7 to 9 o'clock. 470
