Jo Ellen Moore Thomas


    BURLINGTON — Jo Ellen Moore Thomas formerly of Springdale Drive, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh following several years of failing health.

She was the wife of the late Elvie Easton Thomas and was born November 23, 1937 in Alamance County, N.C. to the late Clarence Moore and the late Stella Zimmerman Moore Satterfield.

She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Bethlehem Christian Church.

    Survivors include her daughter Jodie Thomas Soots and her husband Wes of Elon, grandchildren Wesley Adam Soots and Corey Eathon Soots, a sister Betty Colene Fitts and her husband Robert of Burlington, a special sister-in-law Evon Thomas and her husband Bill of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother Thomas Wayne Moore.

    The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. Matt Smith and Michael Fitts. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

    The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at Jodie’s home 2548 Bridge View Road, Elon.

    Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Christian Church Youth, 3625 Altamahaw Church St., Elon, N.C. 27244.
