James Thomas "Tommy" Moore

September 4, 1936 ~ May 6, 2021 (age 84)

Elon – James Thomas “Tommy” Moore, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Tommy was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late James Minot and Maggie Mae King Moore. He was the husband of the late Lois Brooks Moore.

Tommy retired from Lucent Technologies after 42 years of service. He was a member of Union Ridge Church, the Graham Chandler Sunday School Class and the Golden Age. Tommy served as Sunday School Superintendent, an usher and received Father of the Year in 2002. He loved spending time outdoors on his farm and helping his children with building projects at their homes. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Tommy is survived by his son, Eddie Moore and wife, Cindy and his daughter, Michelle Cobb and husband, Bryant both of Elon; grandsons, Scott (Pa Nhia) Moore, Taylor (Kyle) Moore and Nicholas Cobb; great grandson, Aiden Moore. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sisters, Emogene Wallace Hardy and Becky Hardy.

The family would like to send a “Special Thank You” to caregivers, Veronica Hunt, Gercha Oxendine and Christina Carter and the Nurses and Staff of Authoracare Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for Tommy during his illness.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Union Ridge Church Cemetery by Rev. Dan Ficklin. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30pm in the church fellowship hall prior to the service. You may sign the register and view the video on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 8-5pm.
