Mr. Boyd Wagoner Somers
REIDSVILLE — Mr. Boyd Wagoner Somers, 72, of 140 Pursodu Drive, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at his home.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Louise Blakley Somers, who survives, and the son of Mr. Ernest G. “Ernie” Somers and Mrs. Lecy Wagoner Somers, both deceased. He was a former employee of Burlington Industries and was retired from ZARN Inc. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Reidsville. He was a former member of the Reidsville Rotary Club. He received a bachelors degree from Elon College.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Mr. Boyd W. (Christina) Somers Jr. of Greensboro; a daughter, Mrs. Shelia (Oscar) Denise Davis of Charlotte; four brothers, Mr. Joseph C. Somers of Montgomery, Ala., Mr. Daniel Edward Somers of Burlington, Mr. John D. Somers and Mr. D. Calvin Somers, both of Elon College; two sisters, Ms. Betty S. McIntyre of Elon College and Ms. Gladys S. Lancaster of Virginia Beach, Va.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. G. Richard Somers and a sister, Ms. Virginia S. Jones.
The funeral will be conduced at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
The family will be at Citty Funeral Home in Reidsville from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
