George Washington Harrison
   BURLINGTON — George Washington Harrison, 88, of Twin Lakes passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 22, 1924 to the late Henry C. and Mamie Marshall Harrison. He was the husband of the late Pauline Somers Harrison.

   George retired after 30 years with Western Electric and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and he loved to dance and enjoyed a good laugh. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

   Survivors include his son, Douglas S. Harrison of Elon; grandchildren, Doug Harrison of Elon, Heather Campbell ofTexas and Rusty Harrison of Tennessee; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.

   He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Ferril Harrison; his parents; three brothers and two sisters.

   A graveside service will be held on Friday, Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. at Alamance Memorial Park by Dr. Steve Tucker. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at Lowe Funeral

   Home and Crematory. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
