Ervin “Bid” Lee Somers
 
 ELON — Ervin “Bid” Lee Somers, 84, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014, at his home.
 
 He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of the late Rose Marie Perkins Somers.
 
 Bid was employed for many years with Monarch Hosiery and he was a self- employed auto mechanic most of his life. Bid was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Ossipee Baptist Church. He retired after 20 years with the A-O Volunteer Fire Department. Bid was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
 
 He is survived by his daughter, Delores Terrell, of Mebane; sons, Frederick Somers and Steve Somers and wife Janice, all of Elon, and Michael Somers and wife Pamelia of Reidsville; grandchildren, Kim, Crystal, Samantha, Stacy, Brian, Aaron and Jessica; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Godwin and Bonnie Huskey of Elon and Marie Bunn of Gibsonville.
 
 He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Lee Alexander Somers; parents, Herman Alexander and Beulah Wrenn Somers;
 
son-in-law, Richard Terrell; sister, Shirley Gay; infant brother, Ralph Somers; and brothers, H.A. and Paul Somers.
 
 A graveside service will be held Friday, May 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Alamance Memorial Park by Pastor Paul West.
 
 The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home of his son, Steve Somers.
 
 Memorials may be made to Ossipee Baptist Church, 2470 Old NC 87 North, Elon, NC 27244.
