Ray Kernodle Wallace

ELON — Ray Kernodle Wallace, 87, formerly of Ossipee Front Street,
died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at White Oak Manor after a short illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Lawrence
Craven Wallace, and the daughter of the late Charlie and Estelle Isley
Kernodle. She was retired from Frissell Fabrics and was a member of
Altamahaw Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Somers of Elon and
Mrs. Iris (David) Harris of Gibsonville; a son, Roy (Kathy) Wallace of
Elon; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Emogene Wallace of Elon; a sister, Mrs.
Betty Mae Hensley of Elon; eight grandchildren, Fred (Angie) Wallace,
Bryan (Kathy) Somers, Hope (Mark) Kemp, Mark (Anne) Somers,
Todd Harris, Rachel (John) Dowdell, Lee Ann (Allen) Boyd, and Alex
Newman.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Wallace; and two sisters
and one brother.
A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at
Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Walter Jones, pastor of
Altamahaw Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory
from 6 to 8 this evening.
