Dewey Huffines Jr.
ELON — Dewey Huffines Jr., 73, of 8729 Kerr Chapel Road, died May 20, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Guilford County, he was the son of the late Dewey B. Huffines Sr. and the late Pearl Zimmerman Huffines and was married to Mrs. Lottie G. Huffines, who survives.
He retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company after 34 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Huffines is survived by his wife; two daughters, Cheryl H. Campbell and her husband, Timothy, of Smithfield, N.C. and Kimberly H. Conklin and her husband, Mitch, of Burlington; a son, Roger D. Huffines of the home; three grandchildren, Anna, Sarah Elizabeth and Carson Campbell; a sister, Christine Oakley of Mebane; and a brother, Lindberg Huffines of Browns Summit.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mildred Sutton and Lois Shively; and two brothers, Freeman Huffines and Thomas Huffines.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will conduct a private memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
