Mr. Hugh L. Gerringer
GREENSBORO — Mr. Hugh Lindsay Gerringer, 85, of Friends Homes at Guilford, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000.
Born Nov. 8, 1915, in Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Margaret Knight Robinson Gerringer, who survives, and the son of Mr. John Calvin Gerringer and Mrs. Laura Thomas Gerringer, both deceased. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was retired from Vick Chemical Company. He had formerly worked for Barnwell Brothers Trucklines and Associated Transport. He was a retired member of the Guilford College Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Brotherhood Class at New Garden Friends Meeting.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a stepson, Mr. Granville (Sherree) Robinson of Greensboro; a brother, Mr. J.D. Gerringer of Burlington; and a stepgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Vance Gerringer and three sisters, Ms. Ruth Gerringer, Ms. Wilma Gerringer and Ms. Irma Brown.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at New Garden Friends Meeting. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel on West Friendly Ave. in Greensboro from 6:30 to 8:30 Saturday evening.
