VERGIE WHITEHEAD GERRINGER
SEDLEY - A funeral service for Mrs. Vergie Whitehead Gerringer, 69, of Sedley, was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles L. Smith and Dr. J.E. Daniels. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland.
Mrs. Gerringer died Monday at 3:30 a.m. at her residence after a long illness.
A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of Wendell T. and Mrs. Sally Rebecca Eley Whitehead and the wife of Rev. C.E. Gerringer.
She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church and its Sunday school.
Besides her husband she is survived by five foster sons, two sisters, Mrs. Soloman W. Gardner and Mrs. Otelia W. Story of Franklin; three brothers, George Elmo Whitehead, Leland Whitehead, and Robert Royal Whitehead of Courtland. And nieces and nephews.
