James "Bud" Edward Coleman, Jr.
July 15, 1937 — April 17, 2023

Burlington

James Edward “Bud” Coleman, Jr., 85, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 17, 2023 at ARMC.  

He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 66 years to Judith “Judy” Cook Coleman who survives.

He was the son of the late James Edward Coleman and Lucy Mae Gerringer Coleman.

Bud was the owner and operator of Coleman Roofing for over 60 years. He was a longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church. Bud was a member of National (N.A.W.C.C.) Clock Association and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Bud was an avid NC State Fan and a craftsman making bowls out of wood. He was a devoted husband, father and brother, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Cook Coleman of the home; sons, Jimmy Coleman and his wife, Cindy and Gary Coleman all of Burlington; grandchildren, Jonathan Coleman and wife, Heather, Jerry Coleman, Caroline Smith and husband, Jared, Shane Coleman and Gary Montgomery and wife, Paige; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Ella Joyce of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Deborah  “Debbie” Montgomery; sisters, Betty Guthrie, Sara Barnes and Clara Lewis and a brother, Tommy Coleman.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Faith United Methodist Church by Rev. Jesse Baker and Rev. David Jackson with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

  The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior on Saturday at Faith UMC and other times at the home.
