Betty Coleman Guthrie

BURLINGTON – Betty Coleman Guthrie, 78, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, July 27, 2018 surrounded by her family and friends at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Betty was born September 24, 1939 in Alamance County to the late James Edward Coleman, Sr. and Lucy Mae Gerringer Coleman and was married to the late Orville Max Guthrie.

She retired after 26 years with AO Smith Company and was an active member at Faith United Methodist Church. Betty loved visiting her shut-ins from church and loved volunteering at Hospice.

She is survived by her daughters, Jackie Darlene Curcio and Theresa Dawn Walker and husband mark; grandchildren, Brian Moffitt, Kyle Walker and Cody Walker;great grandchildren Devin Moffitt and Logan Moffitt; like a daughter, Cindy Poindexter; a brother, James “Bud” E. Coleman, Jr. and wife, Judy; sister, Ella Rae Joyce and husband Rufus, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; a son-in-law, Louis Curcio; a brother, Tommy Coleman and sisters, Clara Davis and Sara Barnes.

There will be a celebration of her life held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31,2018 at Faith United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 1732 W. Davis St. Burlington, NC 27215 or Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
