Mrs. Lucille Moore Ross
ELON COLLEGE — Mrs. Lucille Moore Ross, 91, of Stoney Mountain Road, died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at White Oak Manor in Burlington.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Robert Hayes Ross Sr., and the daughter of Mr. John Thomas Moore and Mrs. Annie Lee Ratcliffe Moore, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Kerr’s Chapel Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was North Carolina Mother of the Year in 1978 and a member of the Stoney Creek Home Economics Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Betsy R. McFarling of Providence and Mrs. Alyse R. Jenkins of Burlington; two sons, Mr. Robert Hayes “Bobby” Ross Jr. of Elon College and Mr. William H. “Bill” Ross of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Johnston of Burlington, Mrs. Evanell Miller of Graham, and Mrs. Sallie Kate Pritchett of Raleigh; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Sara Ann Saunders; three brothers, Mr. G. Howard Moore, Mr. William Freeman Moore and Mr. David Andrew Moore.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Marvin C. Simpson, pastor of Kerr’s Chapel Baptist Church, and Mr. Tim Ross. Burial will be in Stoney Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening.
