Mrs. Cynthia “Cindy” Blanchard Sykes
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Cynthia “Cindy” Blanchard Sykes, 53, of 3137 Maple Ave., died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at the Hospice Home after a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. Randy L. Sykes, who survives, and the daughter of the late George Thomas Blanchard Jr. and Lucy Newsom Blanchard. She was the gift and record coordinator for Elon University for 27 years and was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include two daughters, Angela S. Genopolos of Burlington and Christina S. Edmonds of Jacksonville; a son, Steve T. Sykes of Burlington; three grandchildren, Taylor Sykes, Kalynn Sykes, and Victoria Genopolos, all of Burlington; a sister, Peggy Blackwell Mease of Graham; and two brothers, George Thomas Blanchard III of Graham and William Blanchard of Mebane.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. today at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Todd Krueger.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington following the chapel service, and at other times at the residence.
