Ora Smith dies at 101


    GIBSONVILLE — Ora Catherine Ingold Smith, 101, of Gibsonville, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Liberty Commons. She was born in Guilford County to the late Boston Robert “Boss” and Martha Barber Ingold and was married to the late Walter Leslie Smith.
    She was a member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church, the Women’s Fellowship and the Angie Crews Sunday School Class.
    She is survived by her son, Robert (Jane) Smith of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Sandra (Jackie) Carter, Ken (Susan) Whitesell and Todd (Kelly) Smith, all of Gibsonville; 10 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Jean Whitesell, and siblings, Sallie Allen, Earlie Ingold, Mae Lee Andrews and Vester Ingold.
    The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. C. Allen Myers III and the Rev. Eric Dudley with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 Sunday evening at the Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the son’s home, Robert Smith.
    Memorials may be made to Apple’s Chapel Christian Church, 7345 N.C. 61 North, Gibsonville, NC 27249 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
