 GIBSONVILLE — Edsell "Doc" Bryant Gerringer, 79, of 3445 Suits Road, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Wesley Long Hospital following a threemonth illness. A native of Guilford County, he was the husband for over 50 years to Virginia "Ginny" Whitesell Gerringer and the son of the late Henry Rankin and Venie Michael Gerringer. He retired from the NC Department of Transportation and was a farmer in the Frieden’s community working with livestock and especially goats. "Doc" was a member of Frieden’s Lutheran Church, the Cobb Hite Sunday school class, served on the cemetery committee, and was a former usher.
    Survivors include his wife of the home; a godson, Charles "Chuck" Cash, Jr. of Gibsonville; a goddaughter, Cindy Skenes of Gibsonville; a godgrandson, Michael Cash of Gibsonville; a sister, Edna Leonard of Greensboro; a brother, John Henry Gerringer and his wife, Linda, of Gibsonville; several nieces and nephews.
    The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday March 12, 2004 at Frieden’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Kristina Johnson, and the Rev. Stephen Mims. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Frieden’s Lutheran Church in the sanctuary, and at other times at the home.
