William Roger Gerringer
GIBSONVILLE — Mr. William Roger Gerringer, 90, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Roger was born April 16, 1921 in Guilford County to the late Andy Boston and Annie Wyrick Gerringer. He was a faithful member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and Deacon. He was employed by FCX and also Fleet-Plummer Hardware. In 1971, along with his son, he opened and operated McLeansville Hardware Store.
He was a caring, gentle and compassionate man that was always willing to help anyone. His legacy will live on in his family that will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John A. Terry; great-grandson, Jonathan W. Terry; sisters, Virgie Fryar, Hazel Smith, Eva Mc-Intyre, and Delories Sockwell; and brothers, Cling, A. B., and Colon Gerringer.
Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, wife of 70 years, Bronna Pearson Gerringer; son, Donald Gerringer and wife Glenda; daughters, Judy Hankins and husband Steve, and Jackie Burney and husband John; grandchildren, W. John Terry and wife Michele, Mandy Smith and husband Ralph, and Donna Stroud and husband Darren; greatgrandchildren, Nathan Terry, and Emily and Kara Stroud; sister, Bertha Scott; George Mack Gerringer; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 300 Knox Road, McLeansville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roger’s memory to Bethel Presbyterian Church.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Roger’s angels, Bettie Martin, Kim Whitaker and Tometris Martin for their wonderful care during the last year.
