GIBSONVILLE — Mrs. Bronna Pearson Gerringer, 89, went home to be with the Lord, and the love of her life, husband of 70 years, Roger, on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011.
Bronna was born Sept. 24, 1922 in Rockingham County to the late Hardy Marvin Pearson and Pearl Payne Pearson. She was a faithful member of Bethel Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Fellowship Leader and Bible School Director. Bronna was awarded Life Membership of the Women of the Church, and was instrumental in starting the tradition of Bethel’s Chrismon Tree.
She was a Godly, unselfish, self-giving, and self-denying mother and grandmother who gave her everything for the well-being of her family. Even though she will be dearly missed, her memory will continue through the love that she stitched in her beautiful quilts.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Bertha Lee Pearson; brother, Clifton P. Pearson; son-in-law, John A. Terry; and great-grandson, Jonathan W. Terry.
Those left to cherish her memory are son, Donald Gerringer and wife Glenda; daughters,
Judy Hankins and husband Steve, and Jackie Burney and husband John; grandchildren, W. John Terry and wife Michele, Mandy Smith and husband Ralph, and Donna Stroud and husband Darren; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Terry, and Emily and Kara Stroud.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at the church.
The family is indebted to the wonderful and loving care that Betty Martin, Kim Whitaker and Tometris Martin gave Bronna.
