Jack was the son of Berry Davidson and Mamie Beulah Gilliam. He married Adgie Iola Kivett in 1932 and they were the parents of four sons: Joseph David Maynard Jr., Lloyd Ray, Doyle Dean and Luther Allen.

GIBSONVILLE - Joseph Maynard "Jack" Gilliam, 67, of 202 Wicker St. died Thursday morning at his home.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Barlett Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Max Allman and the Rev. Robert V. Dodd officiating. Burial will be at Alamance Memorial Park.
He was a native of Rockingham County and a retired employee of the N.C. Department of Transportation. He was a member of People's Memorial Christian Church.
Surviving are widow, Mrs. E(A)dgie Kivett Gilliam; sons, Maynard and Luther of Gisbsonville, Lloyd Gilliam of Cary, Doyle Gilliam of Youngstown, Ohio; sisters, Mrs. Elise Whitely of Jamestown, Mrs. Frances Palmer of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren.
