Joseph Maynard Gilliam, Jr.

GIBSONVILLE - Joseph David Maynard Gilliam, Jr., 82 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2017. He was a native of Guilford County and the husband of 64 years to Shirley Welch Gilliam who survives.
Maynard retired from Burlington Mechanical in Graham and was a member of Christian Bible Fellowship and the faithful finishers. He volunteered along with his wife with Meals on Wheel and was a member of AIA (Action in Aging). Maynard was a former member of Elon Hunting Club and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Welch Gilliam of the home; daughters, Debbie Duffey and husband, Lloyd “Crickett” of Haw River, Tracey Mendolera and husband, Sal of Ravenna, Ohio and a son, Victor Gilliam and wife, Nancy of Gibsonville; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren and three step grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd Gilliam and wife, Sylvia of Burlington, Doyle Gilliam and wife, Jean of Villiages, Florida and Luke Gilliam and wife, Linda of Graham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph “Jack” Gilliam, Sr. and Adgie Kivette Gilliam.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 ay 2:00 pm at Christian Bible Fellowship by Pastor Bruce Readling and assisted by Rev. Woody Lamm. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christian Bible Fellowship,1290 Springwood Church Road, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
