MCLEANSVILLE — Charles Burton Brown, 82, of 4711 McConnell Rd., passed away on January 20, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 23 at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, 2400 Mt. Hope Church Rd., Whitsett, N.C. 27377 with the Rev. Lloyd Spencer and Dr. William Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Brown was born in Guilford County to the late Eli Rankin and Mattie Gordon Brown. He served in the Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a faithful member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ where he served as deacon and treasurer. He was employed as a salesman at Brockman Ford Tractor Sales in Greensboro for 36 years. Besides his work, Charles found pleasure in his hobbies, music and clocks and watches. He played banjo in the bluegrass group, The Millstream Boys. He also loved repairing, trading and giving away watches and clocks to everyone. He will be remembered for his kindness, wit, and love of people.
His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife of 59 years, Jaynee Greeson Brown of the home; a daughter, Cindy Brown Hughes and husband, Joe of Greensboro; grandsons, Michael Hughes and fiance', Kim Marker of Denver, CO.; Jason and Alex Hughes of Greensboro; sisters-in-law, Swannie Brown and Lillian Greeson; and many special nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Herman Brown, Willis Brown and Alton Brown.
