Obituary
Lucius Dale Simmons, 70, of Liberty passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 at his home.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Chuck Ireson; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
He was the son of the late Charles Sidney Simmons, Sr. and Mary Olivia Simmons Ivey and was also preceded in death by two sons, Lucius Dale Simmons, Jr. and Wayne Holden Simmons; sister, Ruth Eloise Denny and brother, Charles Sidney Simmons, Jr.
Dale is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy Phillippie Simmons; daughter, Mary Lynette Taylor (Alvis B.) of Alaska; son, David Gwynn Simmons of Liberty; sister, Mary Avalee Bowman of Wallace and grandson, James Dale Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice Services, 1111 Huffman Mill Road, Ste. 102, Burlington, NC 27215 or Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 4400 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, NC 27298.
