Obituary Online notes for “Bud” Joseph L. SIZEMORE Jr.
Mr. Joseph L. "Bud" Sizemore, Jr., 81, of Graham, N.C. died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on June 9, 2008, at 3:59 p.m. following one week critical illness.
The funeral was conducted at the First Baptist Church of Graham by Dr. David Kolb. Burial was in Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Philemon Sunday School Class.
A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of Dorothy Shepherd Sizemore who survives and the son of Joseph L. Sizemore, Sr. and Vallie Phillips Sizemore, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and was presently a member of the Alamance County War Memorial Committee. He retired as president from Sizemore Lumber Company and was trustee of the Southeastern Lumber Association. Mr. Sizemore was on the board of directors with BB&T and Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance- Caswell. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Graham where he served as a deacon, former Sunday School teacher, on many committees in the church and involved with the missions of the church.
Mr. Sizemore enjoyed playing golf with Malcolm McMillan, Bill Donaldson and Tom Sizemore.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two daughters, Ms. Donna Sizemore of Greensboro and Ms. Debbie Sizemore of Mebane; a son, Mr. Joseph L. "Joe" Sizemore, III of Snow Camp; a brother, Mr. William R. "Bill" Sizemore and wife, Sarah of Graham; three grandchildren, Leslie Sizemore, Brooke Hester and Joseph Sizemore, IV; and two great-grandchildren, Arianna and Joey.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Grace Wright and Mrs. Evangeline Bolick.
