GRAHAM - Mr. Lonnie Pickett "L.P." Holt, Jr., 83, of 3704 Bass Mountain Road, Graham died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 at 11:31 a.m. following a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Doris Stanfield Holt, who survives and the son of Lonnie P. Holt, Sr. and Elsie Coble Holt, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during World War II and a member of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He retired from AT&T. Mr. Holt was a lifetime member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church where he was a former church treasurer.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include his daughter, Connie Delane Holt and fiancé John Shea of Liberty; a son, Lonnie W. Holt and wife Deborah of Graham; a sister, Alwilda Murray of Graham; two grandchildren, Richard Cahl Holt of Newport, N.C. and Angela Holt Garrett of Kittrell, N.C.; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Warren Cash and the Rev. Steve Loy. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of the son, Lonnie W. Holt, 3736 Bass Mountain Road, Graham, NC.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery Memorial Association, C/O Sara Phillips, 3908 Mt. Hermon-Rock Creek Road, Graham, NC 27253.
