May 22, 1949 ~ January 28, 2022 (age 72)
Joseph David “Dickie” Leigh, 72, of Elon passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 surrounded by his family following several years of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of John N. Leigh and Sadie Mae Lewis Leigh, both deceased.
Dickie was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a supervisor in the textile industry for many years and attended Altamahaw Baptist church. Dickie enjoyed playing golf, fishing, boating and watching football. Dickie was an avid NASCAR fan and even drove a race car in his early years at Ace Speedway. He loved going to the beach with his daughter and riding on the golf cart.
Mr. Leigh is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Page and her husband Alan; a son, George Leigh; three grandchildren, Victoria Davis and her husband Bryan, Wesley Page and Nellie Leigh; great- granddaughter, Sadie Ann Davis; brother, William Ernest “Johnny” Leigh; and sister, Shirley Smith and her husband Johnny. He was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Kimball and her husband Clifton.
The family will have a service on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 3:00 pm in the Mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park. At other times the family will be at the residence of his daughter, Stephanie Page.
