GREENSBORO Mrs. Helene Mary Luebbers Sparks, 89, of Greensboro, died at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 12:30 a.m. following a brief illness.A native of Osmond, NE, she was the wife of John William Sparks, who survives, and the daughter of Herman Edward Luebbers and Anna Hassler Luebbers, both deceased. Mrs. Sparks was a cytotechnologist. She was a member and treasurer of the Sun and Shade Garden Club, a quilter, an avid canasta player and avid reader. She was devoted to her grandchildren.In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Cecilia Sparks Ford (Nelson) of McLean, VA; three grandchildren, Aven Ford (Caelan), Alexander Ford (Jessica Wells) and Mary Ford Graeber (Adam); four great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Conrad Renneman; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Annette Luebbers Renneman. A graveside service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following the service, there will be a reception at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington for family and friends.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John and Helene Sparks Scholarship for Business, Elon University, 2600 Campus Box, Elon, NC 27244.Condolences may be offered at www.richandthompson.com. 470, Helene Mary Luebbers Sparks
