Obituary Online notes for Maggie Jane NEWMAN
Third of four daughters born to Bettie and James W. Newman, who divorced before Maggie was in her teens. She married James Wilkins on 18 May 1918 in Rockingham County, NC, and they had two known children before divorcing. The children were Mary Helen and James F. Wilkins.

Following is an excerpt from her obituary in the Greensboro Record (NC), March 3, 1980:

- MADISON - Mrs. Maggie Jane Newman, 81, formerly of Mayodan, died Saturday at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson.

- Funeral will be 11 a.m. tuesday at Mayodan Pentecostal holiness Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. J.H. Burke, the Rev. H.J. Marley and the Rev. Donald Duncan officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Presbyterian Church cemetery.

- She was a native of Stokes County and retired from Washington Mills.

- Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Helen Reese of Henderson; sisters, Mrs. Pearl Barrow of Mayodan, Mrs. Eva Hodgin of Greensboro; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
