James Monroe “Jim” Perry, Jr.

GRAHAM - Mr. James Monroe “Jim” Perry, Jr., of Graham passed away peacefully following a brief illness on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was husband of sixty years to the late Betty Lou Holt Perry and son of the late James Monroe Perry Sr. and Ella Woody Perry. Mr. Perry was a U.S Navy Veteran and former Purchasing Manager for AT & T. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Graham where he was a dedicated participant in the Senior Men’s Bible Class. Mr. Perry was a committed volunteer with Meals on Wheels right up until his recent weeks of failing health.

A sports enthusiast, Mr. Perry played sports in his younger years, coached youth and adult league sports and served as a basketball referee and softball umpire, being inducted into the Hall of Honor with the Amateur Softball Association. An avid golfer, he spent many of his happiest days with friends at Shamrock Golf Course. He enjoyed being a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge, where he served as the administrator for several years.

Surviving are a son, Rock Perry (Cheryl) of Graham; daughter, Susan Evans (Chuck) of Apex; son, Tim Perry (Karen) of Graham; six grandchildren, Casey Perry Johnston (Trent), Kristin Perry Vincent (Jonathan), Marisa Evans Ray (Jonathan), Sydney Evans, Taylor Perry and Spence Perry; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Alton Perry, William Perry, James Perry, Frank Perry and Joe Perry; and five sisters, Callie Smith, Joy Payne, Grace Fletcher, Ella Margaret Perry and Frances Reese.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 5, at the First United Methodist Church of Graham with Rev. Kevin Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral Service in Graham from 5 – 7 PM, Tuesday evening and other times at the residence of a son, Rock Perry, 301 Jones St., Graham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alamance County Meals on Wheels, 411 W. Fifth St., Suite A, Burlington, NC 27215.
