GREENSBORO- On Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, Ernest Cameron Lockamy, 81, passed away at
Moses Cone Extended Care.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Hanes Lineberry
Sedgefield Chapel. The Rev. Brian C. Allen will officiate. Burial will follow at
Guilford Memorial Park with military graveside rites.
Ernest was born on July 8, 1924, in Alamance County to the late James Clem and
Eugenia Phibbs Lockamy. He was a member of Irvin Park United Methodist Church. He
retired from Greensboro News and Record after 43 years. He was a past grandmaster
and a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows Buena Vista Lodge No. 21. During WW
II, Ernest was a corporal in the U. S. Marine Corp.
In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by five sisters, Ethel
Bentley, Nell McLean, Nettie Moser, Lorena Thompson and Eugenia Wyrick and four
brothers, Rush , Maurice, George and Wallace Lockamy.
Surviving Ernest are his wife, Olice Alexander Lockamy; two sons, Ernest Doyle
Lockamy of Greensboro and Michael Cameron Lockamy of El Paso, Texas; two sisters,
Kathleen Wheeler and Mary Loy; brother J.C. Lockamy, all of Burlington; four
grandchildren, Jamison Monroe Lockamy, Dixie "Misha" Lockamy, David Cameron Lockamy,
all of El Paso, Texas and Sheanon Barrymore Lockamy of Greensboro.
The Lockamy family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
