RANDY CLYDE GREESON

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. for Randy Clyde Greeson, 17, who died late yesterday afternoon while swimming in his uncle's pond.
The youth, who lived with his parents at Route 1, Whitsett, was a rising senior at Southeast High School and employed in the shipping department of Sears.
Guilford County Medical Examiner Dr. Allan Coggleshall ruled the death accidental after the youth's body was taken to Moses cones Hospital.
The body was recovered at 8:30 p.m. by Guil-Rand and Guilford County rescue squads one hour after Clarence Caviness, 12, reported the accident to the sheriff's department.
Owned by Connie L. Greeson on State Road 3099, the pond is about a tenth of a mile off Rock Creek Dairy Road.
The accident happened when Randy, his brother Steve, 14, and Clarence Caviness had been swimming for about three hours in the pond. Their inner tube floated about 50 yards into the pond and Randy Swam out to retrieve it.
He started bobbing up and down, according to Clarence, who said the boys thought he was "just playing." Randy then disappeared under the water, however, and Clarence took a rowboat to the spot where Randy sank while Steve went to the other side of the lake. The boys could not spot him either place.
Deputies estimated the drowning occurred at about 6:45 p.m.
The Tuesday afternoon funeral will take place at the Mount Hope United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Greeson, Rt. 1, Whitsett, a brother, Michael Greeson of the home, a sister, Mrs. Carolyn Greeson Clapp of Rt. 1 Whitsett and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Armp Caviness of Rt. 1 Whitsett.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Greeson and Neese Funeral Home on Mt. Hope Church Road.

Funeral for Randy Clyde Greeson, 17, of Rt. 1, Whitsett, was to be held at 2 p.m. today at Mount Hope United Church of Christ. The body is at Greeson and Neese Funeral Home, Rt. 1, Julian.
The Greeson youth was a rising senior at Southeast High School and drowned last Sunday while swimming in his uncle's farm pond. He was working in the shipping department of Sears.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Raymond Greeson of the home; brother, Michael Greson of the home; sister, Mrs. Carolyn Clapp of Rt. 1, Whitsett; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Armp Caviness of Rt. 1, Whitsett.
