Mr. Charles W. Barham, 65, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in High Point Regional Hospital.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Dayspring Community Church, where he attended while residing in High Point. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
Mr. Barham was a resident of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he was a member of the North Myrtle Beach Assembly of God Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1991, after 37 years of service with the government.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Benny Hyder Barham of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Beth Barham of Greensboro; sons, Brad Barham and wife, Amy, Ben Barham and wife, Jackie, and Brooks Barham, all of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Ashlee and Wesley Barham. Also surviving are sisters, Rachel Bovender of Winston-Salem, and Eva Dixon of Greensboro; and brother, John R. Barham of Brown Summit.
Mr. Barham was affectionately known as "Papa" by Clint Brame, Heather Smith, Scott Smith, Brittney Smith, and Steven Kennedy.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.
