Emma Elizabeth Dodson Bradshaw of Raleigh, NC died on Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Emma was born on February 1, 1919 in Rockingham County, NC to William Gaston & Loula Carter Dodson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Johnnie C. Bradshaw, Sr.Emma and John were married in High Point, NC on Christmas Eve in 1943. After the war they returned to High Point, until John's National Guard unit was activated for service in the Korean War. Upon return, he and Emma decided to become a career military family. They moved several times as John served as advisor to the National Guard and Army Reserve. Emma kept the home fires burning when John served in Turkey, and later joined him on his post in Germany where she enjoyed touring Europe and serving as a Red Cross volunteer. Emma was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her own children and grandchildren. She was also a loved second mother and grandmother to many of her nieces and nephews and to the children she cared for in her home after her own children grew up. She remained part of their lives as they grew up and had children of their own.Emma loved working in her vegetable garden, flower beds and yard. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and quilting, winning many ribbons for her creations.Emma is survived by her children Johnnie Bradshaw, Jr. and wife Judy of Cary, NC, Judy Busick and husband Karl of Wilmington, NC, and Barry Bradshaw and fiancée Patty Schaefer of Apex, NC; her grandchildren Patricia Busick, Karen Busick Halsey and husband Josh, Johnnie 'Jake' Bradshaw III and wife Stephanie, Edward 'Brad' Bradshaw, David Marchenke, Tonya Johnson and husband Shawn, and Mike Koger; great-grandchildren Parker and Kendall Bradshaw and Shawna and Kyle Johnson; brothers John 'Dudley' Dodson, Harry Dodson and wife Nettie Lou, and Richard Dodson and wife Becky, and many other loving friends and family members.Also preceding Emma in death were siblings Noble 'Rube' Dodson, Tyre Dodson, Burt Dodson, Frank Dodson, Pencie Dodson, George Dodson, Roy Dodson, Taylor 'Babe' Dodson, Mabel Dodson Holland and Florence Dodson Shotwell. 470, Emma Elizabeth Dodson Bradshaw
