EDEN--Calvin Eugene Taylor, 78, of Cascade, VA., went to be with his heavenly father, Sunday, May 31, 2003 surrounded by his loving family.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville.
He was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Fieldale, VA. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Edward J. and Bertha Taylor, three brothers, James, Robert and Otis Taylor and one sister, Nellie Biggs.
He was a member of the Cascade Primitive Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He was retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 44 years of service.
He married Mamie McDaniel Taylor, his loving wife of 56 years, on Nov. 18, 1946. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Preston Taylor and wife Emily, of Jacksonville, NC; daughter, Janice Irby and husband, Barney of Cascade, VA.; grandson, Lennon Taylor and wife, Darline of Jacksonville, NC; granddaughters, Christy Irby of Eden and Heather Irby of Cascade, VA; and great-granddaughter, Megan Crite of Eden; brothers, Russell Taylor of Cascade, VA, Ralph and John Taylor of Eden; sisters, Beatrice Weddle of Cascade, VA, Reaves Gray of Danville, VA. and Eldean Bumpus of Plymouth, Mass.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home at 6538 Cascade Mill Rd., Cascade, VA.
