Obituary Online notes for Daniel Richard GARRETT
Daniel Richard Garrett, 77, unfortunately and very unexpectedly, suffered a stroke on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, and passed away at 7:15am, Saturday, January 11, 2020 following complications from surgery.
Born March 22, 1942, in Liberty, he was the son of Cora Moffitt Garrett and Henry Garrett Sr. One of six boys, he remained in Liberty, NC where he raised his own family with his wife Brenda. They had two children; Lisa Garrett and the late, Patrick Lynn Garrett.
Daniel proudly served in the Air Force from October 6, 1960 until July 28, 1964. He was a graduate of The American School from which he received his diploma on January 23, 1964. Daniel was a caretaker. He cared for his mother before her passing and has spent the last 8 years caring for his wife after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He was always there for his children and grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by everyone. He will be missed more than he will ever know and his passing will leave a hole in everyone's life he touched.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 59 years, Brenda Richardson Garrett; daughter, Lisa; brothers, Henry Garrett Jr and Homer Garrett; grandchildren, Joshua Garrett, Jacob Garrett, Cody Lovett, and Jamie Lovett; great grandson, Tristan Haley; extended family, Jeremiah Murray (whom he considered a grandson) and Suzie Woodring (whom he considered a daughter) as well as a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cora and Henry; son, Pat; and his brothers, Albert, James, and Colon.
Services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Cane Creek Friends Meeting, 719 W Greensboro Chapel Hill Rd, Snow Camp, NC 27349.
