Mrs. Marie Douglas Heffner, 86, of Graham, NC, passed away on Thursday August 1, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

A native of Orange County, NC, she was the daughter of the later George Franklin and Lois Rogers Douglas and the wife of the late Clayton Edgar Heffner Jr.

Marie was a proud member of Burlington Assembly of God where she volunteered with many Church functions over the years. She also volunteered with the Pink Ladies at the hospital, doing taxes at the Senior Center for those who needed help, and she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Marie worked with Western Electric for many years prior to retiring to what was then known as Lucent Technologies. She was an avid gardener and loved taking trips with her late husband Clayton around the world. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

Survivors include her daughter, Camille Thomas; grandchildren, Jon Andrew "Drew" Thomas and wife Brittany and Candice C. Wynn and husband Billy; great grandchildren, Rebekkah Wynn and Garrett Wynn; son-in-law, Edward Thomas, and her nieces, Kelly Gunter and husband Will and Joyce Stophel and husband Jerry.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Catherine Cates and Anne Compton and her brothers, Billy and George Douglas.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday August 6. 2019 at the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Pastors, Brian Rainbow and Howard Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Burlington Assembly of God at 821 Tucker St, Burlington, NC 27215. [39264]

GRAHAM - Mr. Clayton Edgar Heffner Jr., 85, of Graham, N.C. went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several weeks of failing health.

A native of Catawba County, he was the son of the late Clayton E. Heffner Sr. and Emma V. Heffner.

He leaves behind his "Bride" of 60 years, Marie D. Heffner, of the home; his daughter, Susan Camille H. Thomas and husband Edward L. Thomas of Burlington, N.C.; granddaughter, Candice C. Wynn and husband Billy C. Wynn of Graham, N.C.; grandson, Jon Andrew "Drew" Thomas of Burlington, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Garrette and Rebekkah Wynn of Graham, N.C.; sister, Hazel H. Raynor of Hillsborough, N.C.; and brother, Harley E. Heffner and wife Estella of San Antonio, Texas.

Clayton served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from AT&T with 38 years of service. Clayton was a faithful member of the Burlington Assembly of God until failing health kept him at home. He was also a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Mausoleum Chapel at Alamance Memorial Park on Friday March 11, 2011 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Howard Thompson. The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the Mausoleum Chapel and at other times at the residence, 1506 Broadway Drive, Graham.
