Lois Kirk Groome, 93, passed away Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, with the Reverend Bart Milleson officiating. Interment will follow in Groometown United Methodist Church.
Lois was born June 12, 1911. She was formerly of Greensboro, and resided at the Methodist Home in Charlotte. She graduated from Greensboro College with a Bachelors degree in music. She was the choir director at Hinshaw United Methodist Church and loved music, flower gardening, and needlepoint.
Mrs. Groome was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Armfield Groome Sr.; son, James Riley Groome; and daughter, Evelyn Kirk Groome.
She is survived by her son, Charles Armfield Groome Jr. and wife, Beverly of Burlington; grandchildren, Lisa Groome of Greensboro, Randy Groome of Greenville, S.C., Kirk Groome and wife, Kim; and great-grandson, Jacob Riley Groome of Simpsonville, S.C.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Methodist Home Asbury Assisted Living in Charlotte, as well as the staff at Presbyterian Hospital.
