Charles “Chip” Armfield Groome Jr.
BURLINGTON — Charles “Chip” Armfield Groome Jr., 74, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2015.
A Gathering of Friends celebrating his life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at the Jefferson House next to Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services in Kernersville.
Chip was born Dec. 13, 1940, in High Point to the late Lois Kirk and Charles A. Groome Sr. He was also preceded in death by his brother James Riley Groome and an infant sister.
Chip was a 1959 graduate of Jamestown High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a man of many interests and talents, including fishing, computers and motorcycles. However, he was happiest enjoying his hobby of hot air ballooning. He also was known for his long detailed storytelling skills.
Survivors include his daughter Lisa Groome; nephews Kirk and Randy Groome and his former wife Beverly Ray.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ACAC Homeless Shelter, 206 North Fisher St., Burlington, NC 27217.
